Trenching

Trenching

Vermeer trenching machines are predominantly utilised for mainline installations due to their capability to excavate a trench measuring 2 meters in depth and 750 mm in width in a single pass. The spoil generated by the Vermeer machines is typically suitable for direct backfilling, unlike that produced by traditional excavator machines. These trenching machines offer enhanced speed and safety compared to excavators and are capable of cutting precise trench profiles in hard rock, clay, or sand.

A metal skid bucket is employed behind the trencher, leaving a 100mm layer of level sand, facilitating the direct installation of the pipeline.

Digga Civil also operates three Ditch Witch trenching machines for smaller mainline applications or off-takes from the mainline. Backfilling is generally conducted using equipment such as loaders or bobcats, which provide a precise and accurate method of backfilling to ensure the correct placement of the pipe within the trench.

Remote control operation allows the operator to avoid exposure to noise and dust generated by the trencher.
